UFO Worlds Saturday

Saturday at the UFO Major had its ups and downs. Danny had the best two freestyle routines of the day (something he was really pumped about), but there was also a distance portion today, in which he scored a big ZERO (he wasn't so pumped about that). He gets a chance tomorrow morning to make up for the zero in distance. And if he can score well tomorrow morning he still stands a chance of winning the UFO World Cup!

But that was only half of the excitement of the day. You can't go down to Daytona Beach and not go to the ocean at least once. Danny and Rick went to a dog friendly beach and got the dogs in the water.

Guinan at first was a bit timid, but soon as Danny got the Frisbee out Guinan was fine about getting in the water and playing.

Guinan and Dugan had a fun time at the beach.

Guinan plays Frisbee in the water:

Doesn't it look beautiful where they are! I am so jealous!

Good Luck tomorrow guys!

Friday UFO Qualifier

Friday in Daytona Beach Florida was WET. It rained and was very windy. Especially in the morning. Danny and Guinan even had a 1.5 hour delay!

After the rain let up the day moved along. It was decent weather the rest of the day. At the end of the day Danny got a 2nd place overall, moving him only 6 points from the world championship.

This should make the next 2 days very exciting in Daytona Beach!

Competing from the IDDC (Indy Dog and Disc Club) are Mark Gose visit his blog, Rick Kimball, and Danny Eggleston. They are having a lot of fun (probably too much fun).

Goodbye Manhattan

Normally this blog is full of wonderfully great news. This news could be wonderfully great, but it isn't right now. Yesterday I was let go from Manhttan Associates. I was 1 of 150 people that were let go because of downsizing due to how the economy is doing. It came as a bit of a shock, but there was a bit of the writing on the wall showing that things were heading this direction.

It has been a great 9 years. For those who don't know the history of my employment it is a little crazy. While in college I interviewed with Summit Group for a job. I excepted a job from Summit Group. Six months later while still in college I recieved a phone call from Summit Group saying they were bought-out by Ciber, and I would be working for them, but that I still had a job. I started my job about 4 1/2 months after that. The company was still Ciber, but at the end of my first week I was called into a meeting and found out that the small development portion of the company was going to spin off and become its own company called Intrepa. I worked for Intrepa for a year and one month and then found out that we had been purchased by Manhattan Associates, and there I have stayed for last 8 years. So I have worked for 4 companies, but only worked at one desk.

Who knows what the future holds. I am sure I will find another job, but when and where is the question. I will be sure to let you know as it all becomes clear to me.

I know they say when God shuts one door he opens another -- I just wish he'd show me where that door is, how to get there, where the key to open it is and aim me at the keyhole! :-)

PARTY!!!

To round-out the birthday celebrations we planned a little party friday night for Sydney.

Before the party Grandma and Grandpa Fritz hung-out and helped keep the kids busy while Mom got stuff ready.

Grandpa and Riker - hanging out :-)

Sydney even "helped" Mom decorate with streamers!

After all was prepared, Syd's Grandparents and Aunts and Uncles (except Uncle Trever who couldn't come and was greatly missed!) got together for Pizza and a cupcake cake (cupcakes frosted together as one cake - a new feat for Mom),

It's Mickey Mouse Clubhouse!

We also had cookies, presents and lots of loud fun!

Sydney got a cute card that played the "Hamster Dance"

-- so she had to get a little groove on:

She got great presents and shared really well:

Syd was so excited -- she got everything from a crown, balls and a doll stroller to the start of her savings for her first car!

Even Great Grandma Esther got in on the action!

Riker loves watching Syd run around so he had a blast too!

We were REALLY impressed with how well she blew out her candles - she didn't spit or anything! :-)

After all the noise, playing and sugar everyone started to poop-out:

Syd had dunked her self tired...

Riker had drunk himself unconscious...

And the revelers headed home. Thanks again for everything and Happy 2nd Birthday Sydney!

Sydney turns 2, and Dad turns **

As all or most of you know. Dad and Sydney have the same birthday (October 16th). For their birthday we went out to eat at Pizza King (pretty high on the list of Danny's favorite places to eat). We went with Grandma and Grandpa Egg. The pizza was very yummy, but the dessert was even yummier. Grandma Egg hasn't made Danny too many birthday cakes, but she made one for him this year! First Dad and Sydney blew out the candles on the top of the cake (which was really a bowl covered with a plastic plate). After they took off the plate they found the best cake fillings EVER!:

Dad loves gummy candies (like Dots, Tamales, Mike & Ikes etc.)

We gave Sydney her first Hot Tamale cinnamon candy to try. She isn't always a fan of spicy food. See her reaction in these 2 videos.

Ouch!

You want what?

After dinner we headed back to the house for presents. Sydney was pretty happy with the presents that she was getting from Grandma and Grandpa Egg.

Sydney also recieved a pretty cool gift from Mom and Dad for her birthday:

And then here is a little bit later after her toy is all put together (well mostly put together).

Dad also got some birthday gifts. He got a new Dewalt drill from his parents, and the kids got him a book he is been pleading for. It is "Disc Dogs! the complete guide"

Doesn't he look happy showing off the book, and even a picture of him in the book with his pairs partner and Guinan

And you can't have a birthday without getting at least one good picture of the two birthday-ees (if that is even a word)

Basement Shelves

Handyman Danny strikes again and I am REALLY happy he did-- check this out! :-)

Danny took on another building project. A little more simple this time than the workbench. He decided to add some storage shelves to the basement (yeahhhh!), which are VERY much needed. Here is a short video as the project got started.

Of course Danny was having fun making faces the whole time he was working, or we just got lucky and caught a funny look on dad's face.

As the shelves came closer to completion Danny HAD to climb up on them. A comment his dad said to him is so true. "It feels really cool to climb on something you have built and trust it will hold you."

And then of course we have to show completed shelves with a small video to show off Danny's handyman work:

I can't wait to get the shelves loaded up and the basement clean! Thanks Danny and yes I finally will admit...the nail-gun was a good purchase!
