Kids at Play

Warning, drive slowly. During the following blog there will be kids at play, Thank you.

Riker and Sydney do have their moments when they don't get along, but they also have times when they have fun playing together.

Riker is now starting to use the truck like Sydney did.

>

Here is a video of one of his first attempts to be on the truck. Don't worry no children were injured in the making of this video!

Then of course he had to try a hand at trying to walk behind the truck. Not sure he is quite ready for that or not. :-)

Had to share the following to images on the blog just because they are just so darn CUTE. We love seeing these two happy together!

Katra Problem

On one fine average day the Eggleston family all got struck by lighting causing a very strange day indeed!! I am sure you are wondering what happens to a family like the Egglestons when they are struck by lighting. Well let me tell you! What we have been able to piece together is that everyone received the Katra (look it up if you aren't a Star Trek person), of someone/something else in the universe for the day.

Dad seemed to be have the embodiment of a life size beetle, and all he cared about was pretty lights and how wonderful they are to look at.

Sydney on the other hand was a bit more difficult to figure out. We know she became some rich movie star who thinks they don't have to do anything! We were just lucky that she didn't find a bikini swimsuit to put on. You should have heard her demands. "No I want expensive fancy Milk to drink, not this yucky Meijer brand Milk!".

Riker we were able to place pretty well too. He went from this quiet little baby to a Rock and Roll singer. It was amazing the sounds that could come out of that kid. He didn't have a real guitar so he just kept strumming along on his little pan, we think he thought he was a Jonas Brother.

Mom on the other hand had the simplest yet scariest transformation of any of us. She become a Brown Bear. And we all know that it is winter right now, so she just went to sleep. You know how they say just let sleeping dogs lie, it is also VERY true of sleeping Bears.

But don't you worry, when the next full moon came out, we all reverted back to the "normal" Eggleston family. There were some after effects, Dad ran into glass doors more, Sydney barked out orders just a bit more, Riker seems to think he needs to grow his hair down to his butt, and mom thinks her porridge is always too cold...

Riker's Dedication

Today at church was Rikers dedication. They day started a bit rough. We weren't sure if the dedication was going to happen or not. We had 10 new inches of snow on the ground, and it was actively snowing. Luckily it was pretty much all localized and the out of town people were able to make it in.

The dedication went great. Riker was a bit funny he didn't want to have the cross made on his forehead, he kept turning away from the minister. It was great to be there with Riker (and Sydney a couple of years ago), when they were both dedicated. It really reminds you of how blessed you are -- and what a miracle it is to have these children ... to be a family.

After the service we headed back to the house for a small party. We had 32 people at the house, at most was 29 people at one time. That was a lot of people in our house! Here is a couple of pictures showing some of the people in the living room.

Luckily we also had the basement where the kids spent most of the time playing. Sydney had a lot of fun playing with Claire Reichenbach they look like they are racing here!

Riker received a couple of dedication gifts, and it was great to see how excited he was to receive them -- because at first he only seemed interested in the bows...but look at him grin at his new cross!

Sydney also had a good time, probably thought it was a party for her! She seemed to be enjoying making funny faces at the camera.

We had a great day and are so thankful to God for our kids and all our loved ones -- we are so blessed!

Playing in the Snow

Okay, yeah we know the snow is gone -- but better late than never! We had to share about the fun in the snow. One Saturday afternoon in the WARM winter (YEAH RIGHT) Dad decided to take Sydney and Guinan out to play in the snow. They both had a blast!

Guinan loved chasing ANYTHING in the snow, but nothing is more fun to chase in the snow than the round plastic that she loves so much.

Sydney thought the ice was really cool to play with, take a look.

And of course with the snow really deep. How could we expect those little legs play without getting just a LITTLE stuck?

In the "END" it was a great time for all!

Riker Cruising

Riker is growing by leaps and bounds. He made another big leap forward last week. Jamie was in the other room and I was at work. She came into the room to find Riker standing at the coffee table. He was barley starting to crawl and decided he would rather stand!

And it is not like he can barley stand. The following video shows you how stable he is.

He is now to the point where we even find him standing in his crib when we go to get him up in the morning. You should see the big smile he gets when he stands up. The look says, "LOOK AT ME!!" he is so proud! So after just a couple days he is now cruising around tables and couches a bit, and his crawling is excellent now (can even crawl on the wood and tile floors), and he is FINALLY cutting his first tooth -- all within a week!

Pupsicle 2009

This past weekend Jamie and I hosted the first annual Pupsicle (indoor Disc Dog event) in Elkhart, IN in partnership with our club the IDDC (Indy Dog and Disc Club). It was a great time. It was a very full day. Every competitor recieved a very cool Long sleeve T-Shirt that Jamie is modeling here (and guess who designed it?).

We had a GREAT group of people who came to compete and help run the event. We thought a group picture for the first annual Pupsicle was in order.

During the competition Christina Curtis and I did a pairs demo. We were a little out of practice, but we had a lot of fun.

But the highlight for both of us for the whole day was Sydney competing in her first Disc Dog Event in the Junior division. It wasn't planned to happen -- kind of a last minute thing so there would be more than one kid entered. And it ended up being the cutest Juniors round ever--- two adorable 2 year old girls! This video is a bit long, but it should make you smile quite a bit. Enjoy!

We think there will be a 2nd Annual Pupsicle next winter -- be sure to come enter or watch -- it was a lot of fun for everyone. Thanks again to all who made it this time around!
