Summer Fun 2011

This summer has been full of all kinds of events that the kids just had a great time doing.

We attend 2 fairs this summer (Elkhart County Fair and the St. Joseph County Fair). The kids loved them both.

But The big story of going to the fair had to be Sydney and the kids "game show". Their was a kids game where Sydney was selected randomly from the crowd to go up and compete against 11 other kids. Some how she ended getting the #1 contestant number, and now she says she was the winner because she was number 1. She didn’t win but she sure had fun. Riker’s highlight of both of the fairs was being able to see the Cows. He just LOVES cows. We mean seriously obsessed with cows - the only thing better for him would be a trip to Jurassic Park.

And later when dad took two vacation days to take a 4 day weekend we went to the zoo in Fort Wayne.

The kids were in love with it. Both kids enjoyed riding the horses. Riker tried to feed the Giraffes, but none of them would come over to be fed. He was cute trying to coax them over. Syd and mom loved the sky ride too!

The kids got to experience something new this summer with Grandpa and Mimi. They got to go fishing.

Grandpa says it was “challenging” trying to help them both fish while avoiding getting hooked by a flying hook!

As everyone knows Dad works at Tire Rack. There are perks that come with working there. We had a family fun day there this summer. Which was “fun”. But the big event of the night was that BIG FOOT was there!!

We decided after Big Foot had started crushing cars that we should have explained that to ahead of time Riker because he started crying when it jumped on the cars, because he was worried for the cars. But after we explained it to him then he really got into it!! Syd even thought it was cool! Lower left hand corner image is him cheering as Big Foot crushed the cars again.

No summer is complete without swimming.

It was good swimming this summer (Thanks Grandpa and Mimi!!). Sydney was trying to learn to swim without her floatys and Riker, by the end of the summer, was kicking around the whole pool so that he could splash people.

We tried to go to the beach this summer with Grandpa and Mimi, but this was the best picture we got.

Don’t see much water do you? That is because it was pouring rain. It stopped for a little while, but we ended up just going inside and enjoying the Merry-Go-Round (which is gorgeous -- go to St. Joe Michigan everyone!), and then walking through town. We all still had fun. And mom liked watching the storm over the lake.

What summer is complete without a little biking? This summer Dad did LOTS of biking, and not all of it was on his own.

Sydney loves the new tag-a-long for the bike. The furthest she has gone so far is a 12 mile ride with a stop after 6 miles.

One of Riker’s favorite things to do was to sit with, sit on, hang on, hug on, jump on or tackle... Mommy. Here is one of his calmer poses.

Just to top off the summer we had to have the many faces of our wonderful children.

Hope your summer was awesome too!
